I’m an atheist, I believe in Life and Madonna!!! But as much as I don’t agree with a lot of religions.. Growing up I used to be in a lot of « fête arabe » which is a party where a lot of women used to come together generally in a small apartment, put their « hips scarf » around them and start dancing all night long! With beautiful arabic food and pastry!!!! As a kid it had a huge impact on my life. I have always wanted to one day create to something Arabic and I guess the wait is over.
I’m very proud of this small short piece that I intend to make longer and maybe with more dancers one day.. will see! Who knows! Everything is possible!
I choreographed this piece with my beautiful and extremely talented Anthony who also assisted me on the choreography. But more importantly he came up with this beautiful music that I’m completely obsessed by and for that I’m forever grateful!!!!
With this piece it was important for me to show another side of dancing in heels.. Heels nowadays in my opinion is becoming more and more « cheap » and it hurts me to witness it. This is a way to remind people that you can dance in heels and yet still be elegant subtle but importantly sophisticated! This piece is also inspired by some Martha Graham’s technique and of course my and Anthony’s Arabic heritage. And nothing or no one else! Thank you very much.
music « Enta Omri » which means « You are my life » it is by artist - Achraf Kallel and Omnia Soliman (Achraf is Tunisian, Omnia is Egyptian).
